Student Support and Care Department  

1.0     Aims and Objectives

Rationale:

The school is responsible for ensuring each and every pupil's welfare; promote their personal development and academic progress. This would be possible only if there is a strong student support team working with the parents. This support team at Yangchenphug, is called 'Student Support and Care Department', headed by an assistant principal and teachers, House teachers and House tutors.\  

  Broad Objectives:

 The broad objectives of this department are to

2.1       Ensure every individual pupil's welfare; promote personal development and academic progress.

2.2       Inculcate good behavior and self-discipline.

2.3              Work with parents on the progress of the pupil.  

2.0             Structure:

 The department is headed by an Assistant Principal with two wings - Grades and

Houses- supported by guidance and counseling, School Health Unit and other support services.

The first wing - Grade will be headed by a team of senior teachers called Year Heads having separate Heads for each grade (IX, X, XI & XII) making it a total of four year heads in all.  The Year Heads are further assisted by Class Teachers, Subject Teachers.

The other wing - Houses, consisting of eight houses will be headed by House teachers. Each house will be further divided into smaller groups of boys and girls of mixed grades looked after by a House Tutor who in turn is supported by two group leaders (a boy and a girl).  In total, each house will have a House Teacher and Four House Tutors.  To ease the difficulty of tracing the pupil's House and their House Tutor, name list with their Tutorial group number is suggested.   

Assistant Principal

The Assistant Principal responsible for the care of the students will oversee the all round development of each and every pupil, especially their welfare, personal development, academic progress and behavior in the school with the help of Year Heads, class teachers, House Teachers and House Tutors.  

Year Head   

Year Head in their own grades, will have the responsibility for following up cases of persistent absenteeism, deals with day to day problems arising in relation to attendance and oversee the all round development of each and every pupil in that grade, especially their welfare; personal development; academic progress and behavior with the help of Class teachers.
