Roles and Responsibility

 Assistant Principal

The Assistant Principal responsible for the care of the students will oversee the all round development of each and every pupil, especially their welfare, personal development, academic progress and behavior in the school with the help of Year Heads, class teachers, House Teachers and House Tutors.  

Year Head   

Year Head in their own grades, will have the responsibility for following up cases of persistent absenteeism, deals with day to day problems arising in relation to attendance and oversee the all round development of each and every pupil in that grade, especially their welfare; personal development; academic progress and behavior with the help of Class teachers.

Accordingly, the Year Head will have responsibility to -

  •           Involve in all of the formal process of reporting the pupil's progress to parents.

  •           Take students referred by class teachers / House Tutors for serious matters.

  •           Report to Assistant Principal responsible for student support and care.

  •           Review the pupil's progress with the class teacher and Assistant Principal (care).

  •           Co-ordinate the work of the House Tutors / Class Teacher.

  •           Contact parents or receive contacts from parents regarding attendance, pupil's academic and personal welfare, and any difficulties, whether personal or physical.

  •           Conduct Year Group meetings with parents.

  •           Monitor pupil's whole educational experience along with the Class Teachers, House Teachers, and House Tutors.

  •           Follow up on attendance at lessons in conjunction with subject teachers.

  •           Identify at risk pupils and set up appropriate intervention programmes.

  •           Work with persistent absentees.

  •           Support House Tutors.

 Class Teacher

Since the class teacher remains the basic unit and the most crucial point of contact for a pupil in the school, the class teacher have a key role to play in improving attendance through the development of positive, supportive and continuing relationships with the students in their forms.  And also keep a watchful eye on all aspects of the pupil's life at school on matters of welfare, personal development, academic progress and behaviour.  Accordingly, the range of responsibilities could include -

  •           Helping to organize the student's full day.

  •           Offering informed and yet impartial career choices.

  •           Encourage to join in particular activity or go to a club.

  •           A word of advice that can help pupil avoid getting into some difficulty with a teacher or a fellow pupil, etc.

  •           Contact parents or receive contacts from parents about the matters both inside and outside.

  •           Refer students to the Year Head when really necessary.

  •           Review the progress of the pupil along with Assistant Principal and Year Head.

  •           Keep in touch with the concerned House Tutors and subject teachers.

  •           Acquiring detailed knowledge of the individual in their form group.

  •           Developing trusting and continuing relationship with those pupils.

  •           Maintaining their attendance, progress, behaviour and achievement.

  •           Following individual cases of absentees.

  •           Write referral letters to their pupils wherever necessary.

  •           Carry out all administrative works like fee collection, issue of books, preparation of result, record keeping, etc.

House Teacher

The House Teachers will act as the overall in charge of their respective houses and coordinate all house activities. His/her range of responsibilities would be to -

  •           Encourage pupil's participation in the programmes and activities designed for the houses along with House Tutors.

  •           Supervise and ensure the achievement of house pupils in all co-curricular and extra-curricular activities along with House Tutors.

  •           Assist House Tutors to select house pupils for recognizing commitment, determination and achievements.

  •           Supervise the house tutors to write reports each year, which records - the achievements of house pupils in all co-curricular activities.

  •           Help House Tutors nominate pupils for school prefect ship.

  •           Co-ordinate to share information with concerned Class Teachers and Year Heads.

  •           Review and coordinate the work of the House Tutors. 

Subject Teachers

Pupils often skip school because they are experiencing difficulties with their relationship with teachers or peers thereby performing poorly.  To address these issues, whole school approach is required which raises the status of subject teachers in promoting attendance.

  •           Subject teachers have administrative role to play in monitoring and dealing with non-attendance in their lessons.

  •           To help pupils catch up with work when they have been absent.

  •           Liaise with form tutor on matters of pupil’s attendance, behaviour, progress, or achievement, positive or negative.          

  •           Responsibility to act on information received from the House Tutors. 

House Tutors

The House Tutors will remain the most important teacher in the life of the pupil under the house system in providing the much needed support, guidance and care. The other range of responsibilities are to –

  •           Supervise all House activities along with the House Teacher and other House Tutors.

  •           Supervise and ensure the achievement of house pupils in all co-curricular and extra curricular activities along with the House Teachers.

  •           Select House pupils for recognizing commitment, determination and achievement.

  •           Write reports each year, which records the achievements of house pupils in all co-curricular and extra curricular activities.

  •           Nominate pupils for school prefect ship.

  •           Co-ordinate to share information with the concerned class teacher.
