Literary committee

Policy

Literary committee functions as a forum to develop literary skills and to create awareness of national and international issues. It aims at promoting critical and creative thinking among the students so that they possess competitive spirit and gain confidence to face the audience.

Goals 

Our goals are to:

  •  Develop literary skills i.e., reading, writing and listening.

  • Encourage students for independent learning.

  • Enhance positive attitude in students for gentle persuasion.

  • Develop communication skills.

  • Assist students in getting rid of stage fear.

  • Develop creative and critical thinking.

Strategy

By organizing various literary activities spread all through the year:

  • Assembly speeches (open) English & Dzongkha

  • News reading (open) English & Dzongkha

  • Essay competition  (spot & take home) both in English & Dzongkha (open event)

  • Poem writing (open)

  • Poetry recitation (inter house activity)

  • English debate (do)

  • Dzongkha debate (do)

  • English extempore (do)

  • Dzongkha extempore (do)

  • Quiz competition (do)

  • Reading week (open)

  • Inter-institute debate

  • Painting competition (open)

Participation in external events such as debate / quiz / essay / painting     competition organized by various organizations.  

Roles and responsibilities

Coordinator:

  • Coordinate meeting relating to literary activities.

  • Make calendar for literary activities with the assistance of committee members.

  • Assign duties among the members.

  • Keep cohesion among the members for smooth arrangement of programme.

  • Prepare evaluation sheet for the event with the assistance of committee members.

  • Notify the house teachers for the activity to take place at least one week before with the criteria of evaluation.

  • Draw up the programme of the events to take place.

  • Prepare the list of officials for the events in consultation with the members.

  • Arrange judges to evaluate the event.

  • Prepare the chart for the events in consultation with the members.

  • Check the list of sequence of the activities and the list of material required for the activity.

Members

  • Assist Coordinator as and when required.

  • Perform duties assigned.

  • List participants for all the activities.

  • Extend full support to coordinator for the success of the event.

  • Draw up programme for all the events.

  • Make arrangements for the programme to take place.

  • Maintain record of participation of the participating students.

  • Identify the participants for inter school or national level events.

  • Inform the criteria of judgment to the judges for the events.

  • Submit the evaluated forms to the coordinator.
