Policy    
  • Making personal counseling services accessible to all students of this school.
  • Career Education Lessons to be imparted to two terminal classes i.e., classes X & XII at least once a week.
  • Helping and guiding students prioritize three most suitable job options for themselves according to their personal interests, abilities and aptitudes.

Objectives

  • To enhance wholesome education through Career education and make young people aware of the roles and responsibilities in nation building.
  • To provide information to students on the preparation of applications for work and training.
  • To assist students to explore their potentials and limitations, values and interests, skills and achievement to help them understand themselves better and thereby develop a positive self-concept towards their life.
  • To instill in students the ability to set and achieve goals.
  • To assist students in determining career paths that takes account of their personal background and the opportunities available.
  • To provide information to students concerning post high school career options, course selection at plus two and degree levels, further studies, scholarships and selection procedure (Labour Market Information)  
Strategy
  • Conducting SBIP on career education programme at YANGCHENPHUG thereby creating awareness in fellow teachers.
  • Delivery of career education lessons to two terminal classes i.e., Classes X & XII.
  • Involving class teachers and subject teachers in career education programme.
  • Job Shadowing.
  • Inviting guest speakers to brief students on different jobs/professions.

Career teachers are advised to study unit one (Getting to know ‘self’) from ‘ A Light on Your Carrer Path’, Volume 1 page 1 to 12. This should be done for teachers’ own understanding of the concept and for their reference. 

Objective 1.1, Activity A & B from ‘A Light On Your Career Path’ Volume1, Page 13 & 14 are recommended for this topic. 

Objective 1.8, Activity A, B & C from the same book, Page 20 & 21 is recommended.

- Job shadowing

-         Students will be attached to the professionals whose jobs match their personal interests, aptitudes and abilities. Students will learn more about jobs from such professionals.

- Career teachers to feed the students with necessary information on different and higher study programmes offered by training institutes, Colleges & Universities both within and outside the country.

Note:   

  • Teachers are free to choose any activities as long as the outlined objectives are fulfilled.  
  • There will be no career education lessons in November as students will be busy preparing for and writing their examinations.
