Administration and Management Structure

The Ministry of Education, of the Royal Government of Bhutan, at the apex of the education system reigns supreme and provides the overall supervision to all the educational institutes and organizations with its polices and practices closely monitored by the department of education at the centre and by the Thomdrey Education Office, TCC at the Municipal Level, which is the immediate point of contact for the school on finance and administration. As a separate body with members composed mostly of the parents; the School Management Committee also works as an advisory and governing body, helping the school to execute the government polices on education. At the school level, the principal is the chief administrator assisted by the deputy principals and other teaching and ancillary staff. In line with this, the senior management team at Yangchenphug consists of a principal and Deputy Principals. For efficiency, transparency and accountability, the share of responsibilities of the senior management team are given below  

Roles and responsibilities of senior management team members

Principal:-Academic affairs & overall administration.  

Responsible for overall supervision and management of the school. Administration and finance, infra-structure development, policies, planning, monitoring and liaising with the outside agencies are the direct responsibilities with 20% - 25% of the time devoted to teaching.  

Directly responsible for academic scheduling; assessment, examinations and promotion; staff professional development; staff classroom performance; students’ performance in academics, design, develop and implement improved curriculum materials; innovate and implement all strategies to enhance teacher performance and thereby student achievement for academic excellence.

A team of subject department heads, committees, class teachers and subject teachers support the Deputy Principal. 50% - 55% of the time is devoted to teaching.  

Deputy Principal1: -Student affairs.

Responsible for ensuring each individual pupil’s welfare, promote personal development and academic progress, work with parents on the progress of the pupils and inculcate good behaviors and self discipline. A team of year heads (one for each grade), class teachers, house teachers and house tutors are to support the assistant principal to effectively carry and fulfill the sacred responsibility. 50% - 55% of the time is devoted to teaching.

These responsibilities are expected to be achieved by working through two wings grades and houses both supported by guidance and counseling and other support services.

Deputy Principal2 : - Religious affairs

Responsible for the preservation and promotion of religious affairs and is directly responsible for the observance and conduct of all religious activities in the school. Assisted by a team of Dzongkha lopens, VP2 does work as the overall supervisor for the Dzongkha language development, preservation of Bhutanese traditional values and etiquettes and the inculcation of religious values in the students. 50-55% of time is devoted for teaching.

Deputy Principal3:- Cultural Affairs.

Responsible for the preservation and promotion of cultural affairs and is directly responsible for the observance and conduct of all cultural activities in the school. Assisted by a team of teachers, VP3 does work as the overall supervisor for the Dzongkha language development, preservation of Bhutanese traditional values and etiquettes and the inculcation of Cultural  values in the students. 50-55% of time is devoted for teaching.

Deputy Principal4:- Co-curricular & Extra curricular Affairs.

Responsible for all co-curricular and extra curricular activities. Assisted by a team of teachers, VP4 does work as the overall supervisor for co-curricular and extra curricular activities. 50-55% of time is devoted for teaching.
