Roles and Responsibility

Class Teacher

   Since it is the basic unit and the most crucial point of contact for pupils in the school, class teacher has a key role to play in all aspects of the pupils life at school on matters of welfare, personal development, academic progress and behaviour. Accordingly, the range of responsibilities includes:

       - Help to organize the student?s day at school.

        - Ensure the class environment conducive to learning.

         -Communicate with parents/guardians about their child?s progress/shortfall, and expectations.

        - Set annual performance target.

         -Carryout regular attendance in the assembly and monitor irregular students and deal accordingly.

         -Keep in touch with the concerned House Teachers and Subject Teachers of those students requiring constant guidance and support.

         -Monitor student attendance, their progress, behaviour and achievement.

         -Write referral letters for their pupils when required.

         -Carryout all administrative works like: fee collection, issue of books, preparation of result, record keeping, etc.

        - Encourage, advice, counsel and guide students on academics, career choices and behaviour.

         -Ensure the cleanliness of the class and its surrounding. 

         -Provide role model to the students.

        - Provide feedback to the administration and students on their progress.

Subject Teacher  

      In promoting academic excellence and the overall growth of pupils, working collaboratively is crucial. In this regard, subject teachers as well play a pivotal role, as professionals they are responsible for making the choices that lead to successful learning outcomes. The range of their responsibilities includes:

-Proper planning of the lessons incorporating a variety of teaching learning strategies.

-Teaching lessons through variety of strategies, developing it systematically with proper lesson introduction, development and closure.

-Administrative role such as monitoring and dealing with non-attendance in their class.

-Set annual performance target.

-Help pupils catch up with work when they have been absent.

-Liaise with class teachers on matters of pupil?s attendance, behaviour, progress-positive or negative.

-Systematically monitor academic achievement and provide feedback.

-Ensure the optimal use of instructional time.

House Teacher

    House Teachers will act as the overall in-charge of their respective houses and coordinate all house activities. His/her range of responsibilities include to:

         -Encourage pupils participation in the programmes and activities designed for the house along with the house tutors.

         -Supervise and ensure the achievement of the house pupil?s in all co-curricular and extra-curricular activities along with the house tutors.

         -Maintain records of the house pupils participation and achievement in co-curricular activities.

         -Perform administrative responsibilities over the house pupils such as: assembly attendance, uniform check ups and communicate with parents on need basis.

         -Coordinate to share information with the concerned class teacher.

House Tutors

   The House Tutors will remain the most important teacher in the life of the pupil under house system in providing the much needed support, guidance and care. The other range of responsibilities is to:

         -Supervise all house activities along with the house teacher.

         -Supervise and ensure the achievement of house pupils in all co-and extra- curricular activities.

         -Maintain records of house pupils achievement in activities.

         -Assist house teacher in carrying out the administrative responsibilities pertaining to their houses.

Head of Department (HOD) 

      To ensure better coordination and smooth functioning among the subject teachers, each of the subject group is headed by a subject head known as the head of department. Apart from heading their respective department and working towards its improvement, the range of their responsibilities include the following:

         -Provide assistance to the academic department.

         -Ensure proper delivery of curriculum and timely coverage of the syllabus.

        - Identify gray areas in their department and initiate strategies for their improvement.

         -Guide and support new teachers in their department.

         -Participate in professional development programmes and share information and resources.

         -Participate in programmes and instructional planning with the colleagues.

         -Organize departmental meetings.

         -Promote healthy atmosphere and collegiality among the members in their department.

         -Member of the school level monitoring and support services.

School captains

    The School Captain will act as the overall in-charge of the student body and therefore will have the responsibility to:

         -Supervise and coordinate all school activities along with other captains.

         -Ensure pupils participation along with other captains in the programmes and activities designed for the students by the school.

         -Assist the school in enforcing the school rules and regulations.

         -Assist in the day to day running of the school.

         -Participate in the SMC meetings as the student representative.

         -Report to the Deputy Principal for student affairs on any sensitive matters and student behaviours.

         -Conduct meetings with other captains in carrying out the activities of the school.

         -Participate in matters pertaining to student discipline.

         -Represent school in events and activities when necessary.

House captains

 The House Captains will play a crucial role in helping the house teachers for conducting the house activities along with the house captains and other teachers in the house. Accordingly the range of responsibilities includes:

        -Supervise and conduct all house activities along with the house teachers.

         -Encourage the group members to take part in the house competitions.

        - Take active part in the co- and extra-curricular activities.

         -Report to the deputy principal for student affairs on any sensitive matters and student behaviours.

         -Assist the house teacher in all the programmes and activities of the house.

         -Render support and cooperation to the school captains.

General captains (Literary/Health & Sanitation/Cultural/Scouting/Games & Sports) 

      The other general captains will also have an equally important role to play for the success of the activities and programmes of the school designed for the students. Therefore, their range of responsibilities includes the following:

         -Coordinate to organize the conduct of the activities designated along with the respective coordinators.

         -Encourage student participation in the various activities identified.

         -Take active-part in the co and extra-curricular activities.

         -Render support and cooperation to other captains.

         -Report to the deputy principal for student affairs on any sensitive matters and student behaviours.

Class captains 

   The class captain will act as the overall in charge of the class and coordinate all class activities. Accordingly, the range of responsibilities will  be to:

        - Ensure the participation of the class pupils in the programmes and activities designed for the class.

         -Supervise and ensure the achievement of the class pupils in all co and extra-curricular activities.

         -Ensure the cleanliness of the class and its surrounding.

         -Maintain the class absentee record (class log book) and submit the same to respective block in-charges for verification each day after school.

         -Responsible for the care of the classroom furniture and class control.

         -Responsible for the formation of daily assembly lines and assembly attendance.

         -Report to class teacher on matters related to student behaviour and discipline.

         -Participate in matters pertaining to student discipline (own class).
